Minister of General Education David Mabumba says achieving equitable access to education is among government’s key priorities.
Mr. Mabumba says President Edgar Lungu is keen in insuring that equity in education is achieved.
He was speaking, when he launched the World Bank’s 60 million United States Dollars Zambia Education Enhancement Project- ZEEP- that will see the construction of 82 schools in Seven provinces in the country.
And, World Bank Country Manager-Zambia Ina Ruthenberg says the bank recognizes that strong partnerships in the provision of education are crucial to addressing equity and quality education.
Ms. Ruthenberg says aside improving access to education the project will also improve mathematics and science among pupils.
And Chief Nkweto of Munsanya in Chinsali District says the construction of schools will ensure his chiefdom compliments government’s effort in fighting child marriages.
And Mr. Mabumba has directed contractor CONVEC company limited to redo parts of the work at Michael Sata Girls Boarding School.
Mr. Mabumba says some classroom blocks have developed cracks that are just being patched up.
He says government will not tolerate shoddy work on any project because a lot of money is being spent.
